Meanwhile Odroerir exists since autumn of 1998 and some winters are past till today and many things are happened, which I (Fix) want to offer the interested reader now in the following essay:

In the first days I started Odroerir as a project where Fenrir, a long-time friend, wants to provides me with lyrics and another friend, Heinz, started to play bass for a short time.

From the start the music was intended to be a calmer and more epic form of “Pagan Metal”, where the folklore/medieval melodies should dominate. Wittingly without speed-attacks or double bass drumming but with different nature-instruments, different vocals and other stylistic devices. (in retrospect it was not every time easy to accomplish)

I have to admit, that most of all the Viking albums of Bathory induced me to go this way, but there are also other influences for my music.

Also the texts should reveal my own interests: the multifaceted topic of Germanic and Celtic mythology, the pre- and early history of the heathen Europe, all about the life, the death and the history of our ancestors. No moronic platitudes about “super-Aryans” or childish lyrics like “ I'm a evil Nordic warrior, I have to slay all Christian people…” and of course no esoteric nonsense but a new interpretation about old legends, fairytales and rhymed disquisitions about verifiable historical events.

By mutual consent Fenrir left the band after some time, because the collaboration had not really worked. What a shame! But furthermore he helped us out, for example to create the layouts of our first releases and in the first time to help us with our internet presentation.
Since this time I written the texts by myself but some ideas of Fenrir are used on our first CD (like to set to music the legend of Iring).

In November of 1998 we completed an advance demo tape with the help of session musicians. The tape contained 4 unfinished tracks without vocals and was recorded purely for the then involved parties and Christoph Dobberstein of Ars Metalli (at this time a well known and expanding label), who had proclaimed his interest in the band a while before.

At the end of 1999 I restructured the band to enable live activities. Ivonne was suggested by a friend, Stickel I knew since some time and I did know that he play's guitar and feels like to work with me. Philipp was suggested by our producer and Ralph I knew from work and he was known as “band-bitch” absolutely.

This constellation recorded the first official 5-track demo "Iring" in Spring 2000 and almost immediately the first shows were done. At this time we sold out the 300 pieces of the demo but didn't re-released it.

At the end of 2000 we started to record our first album „Laßt euch sagen aus alten Tagen…“ which was published by Ars Metalli one year later. On this CD we worked up the pre and early history, the myths and legends of our home Thuringia.

After a short time the debut album was sold out and unfortunately nowhere available, because the owner of Ars Metalli had some trouble with his business and himself and the collaboration broke apart. It's interesting to notice, that this person meanwhile changed his gender from male to female and we never seen any kind of royalties. But till now, I also know no other band which never had some trouble with record-labels.

Without deal but with new songs we rushed in autumn 2003 the POWER-TRACK studio once again, which is since our first day's our recording studio.
Two of those songs, initially intended as promo material, were chosen in 2003 by Thiess to be released as a illustrative 7inch EP on his young new label Det Germanske Folket.

On the strength of internal discrepancies our long-time bassist had unfortunately to leave the band during the recordings. But furthermore we wish him good luck in his life!
Short time later he was replaced from Manuel, alias Marley who plays since this time the bass-guitar.

After a long hunt, Veit completed our lineup on Violin in March 2004. Until this point Ivonne had reproduced the violin on keyboards in live situations. Till this time Olaf Wald (WIWALDI), a gifted musician from our home, played the violin parts during recording-sessions.

On the already described 7inch EP we presented new material from our future publications, which contains only myths and legends of the “EDDA”. Since a long time I had the plan to setting this content to music and I once started this project with the song “Baldurs Träume” on our demo.

At the end of 2004, we decided to commence recording our mammoth piece, the audio version of the "Edda", at least the first part. Work on the new album “Götterlieder 1” was completed a couple of months later due to complications, but we hope to accomplished a considerable performance. With 6 Songs plus intro the album reached a playtime of 52 minutes. The front cover was once again (like the cover of our debut-cd) painted by our friend Spitz. A big “Thank you” to him!
The album was released in September of 2005 and was published by our new label Einheit-Produktionen.

Since the end of 2005 we have one new member: Natalie is her name, she replaced Ivonne and is responsible for the female vocals.

In this constellation we played a lot of shows and festivals. In autumn 2006 we started our first European Tour together with ELUVEITIE (Switzerland). That “SPIRIT OF THE ANCIENT TOUR” crossed five European states in two weeks. We had a great time. About one year later we went on tour - "VIKING WARRIOR RAID TOUR" - once again, this time together with TYR (Faroe Islands) and BLACK MESSIAH (Germany). In the meantime we worked on the new songs for “GÖTTERLIEDER II” and started the long going recording process in spring 2008. That was interrupted by diverse live shows and another European Tour - "LIGHT A PAGAN FIRE TOUR" - , this time together with two German Bands HELFAHRT and GERNOTSHAGEN. “GÖTTERLIEDER II” will be released by “Einheit Produktionen”. You will get one hour of epic and melodic folk metal with a lot of monumental choirs, more instruments, more mystic, more bombast. That second part of our musical version of the EDDA contains seven songs with lyrics about the North-Germanic mythology. The cover was once more created by ANDREAS SPITZNER.
